Important Information

A current HLTAID011 Provide First Aid certificate is required for this course. You'll need to upload a copy during enrolment.
For compliance, all Zoom sessions are recorded, and these recordings are handled according to our privacy policy detailed in the student handbook.
Upon booking, you'll gain access to pre-course learning, which takes approximately 1-2 hours and must be finished before your scheduled video conference.
Do NOT leave this until the last minute.

PUAEME008 Provide Pain Mangement
Students completing this course will gain the skills and knowledge required to administer restricted analgesics to provide pain management as part of a medically supervised first responder organisation.
It includes identifying the need for analgesia; accessing, preparing and administering restricted pain relief such as analgesics according to medically endorsed protocols; performing casualty handovers and completing analgesic use requirements.
The course is applicable for personnel from emergency services, volunteer organisations or organisations that provide a medically supervised first aid service.

Upon completion of this course, the following unit(s) will be issued by ABC Licence Training Pty LTD – RTO 3399

Course duration
For the standard course – the face to face minimum duration is 4 hours
For the express course – the face to face minimum duration is 60 minutes*
For the online express course – the face to face minimum duration is 60 minutes*
*Maximum class size of 10 applies
Pre-requisites
Learners must hold a current HLATID011 Provide first aid statement of attainment to attend this course. Learners will require English language, literacy, and numeracy (LLN) skills.
Entry requirements
Learners undertaking the express course must have previously completed the PUAEME008 – Provide pain management (or its equivalent). Learners will be required to provide a copy of their expiring Statement of Attainment on the day of their face-to-face course.
Training requirements
Face to face training consists of theory presentations and range of practical learning activities and scenarios.
Assessment requirements
Assessment activities will include completion of a first aid incident report form and medication register. In addition, learners will be required to participate in practical scenarios including effective use of pain management and handover to paramedics.
Course renewal requirements
There is no renewal recommendation set by industry for this course.
